He holds the John L. Locke Jr. Family Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Research and Treatment and also has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Pathology. He has a clinical practice in general cardiology and a research program that includes gene transfer and gene therapy for cardiovascular disease and work on factors that cause blood vessel disease.He earned his bachelor's degree in Romance languages and literatures from Princeton University and his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was an internal medicine resident at Massachusetts General Hospital and a clinical fellow in cardiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and is a fellow of the American Heart Association. Dr. Dichek's personal interests include bicycle touring, reading Shakespeare, French and other classic cinema.
