Biography

Laurie is a UW teaching associate and nurse practitioner in both the Departments of Radiology and Medicine. She performs cardiac stress studies that include myocardial perfusion imaging (SPECT and PET). In addition, she is the lead nurse practitioner for the UW Medicine Regional Heart Center and chair of the UWMC Nurse Practitioner Council. Her research interests range from exploring the impact of what patients know and how this affects clinical outcome to examining factors associated with the highest levels of professional nursing practice. 

Laurie earned her bachelor's of science degree in nursing and a bachelor's of arts degree in communication from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma; her master's in nursing and Ph.D. in nursing science from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is a board certified as both an acute and adult nurse practitioner. In 2013, she was awarded the UW School of Nursing Distinguished Practitioner Award. In May of 2013, she was appointed by the governor to the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (WA State Board of Nursing). Her personal interests include hiking, boating, gardening, and reading.
