About

Dr. Claudio Bravo is originally from Valparaiso, Chile where he attended to medical school. Most of Dr. Bravo’s research has focused on finding novel molecular mechanisms of heart failure and his main contribution has been describing the role of adenylyl cyclase type 5 in the ischemic and failing heart. He is also an active member and author of the Cochrane Collaboration and other national and internationally recognized societies and journals. More recently, he became more invested in understanding the outcomes of patients with advanced heart failure that are supported with a continuous-flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) and the consequences of this device in the right ventricle. On his most recent project, he is searching for unique molecular signatures of right ventricular failure in patients supported with LVAD with the hope of identifying potential pharmacological targets to treat this disease that thus far does not have any medical treatment.
