Overview
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent population health research center at UW Medicine, part of the University of Washington, that provides rigorous and comparable measurement of the world's most important health problems and evaluates the strategies used to address them. IHME makes this information freely available so that policymakers have the evidence they need to make informed decisions about how to allocate resources to best improve population health. At IHME, Dr. Greg Roth leads cardiovascular disease research for the institute's landmark Global Burden of Disease Study. Dr. Roth's research focuses on global cardiovascular health surveillance, population health, and quality of care and outcomes for cardiovascular diseases.
IHME aspires to make available to the world high-quality information on population health, its determinants, and the performance of health systems. We seek to achieve this by training researchers as well as policymakers. IHME’s research is organized around answering three critical questions that are essential to understanding the current state of population health and the strategies necessary to improve it.
