About

Dr. Boyle is a biomedical engineer whose primary appointment is in the UW Department of Bioengineering, where he leads the Cardiac Systems Simulation (CardSS) Lab. His research uses computational models of the human heart to understand arrhythmia mechanisms and improve treatment. The lab builds image-personalized models from clinical MRI to study atrial fibrillation, stroke risk, and ablation outcomes; investigates arrhythmia in congenital heart disease and after cardiac cell therapy; and develops explainable machine learning tools that use ECGs, echocardiograms, and clinical records to predict cardiovascular risk. He works closely with UW Cardiology faculty and fellows on translational projects and contributes to fellowship teaching in clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
