background
Daniel was raised in Trumbull, Connecticut. His interests include echocardiography and the intersection of cardiovascular and infectious diseases across the globe. Prior to medical school, he served over four years in the Peace Corps in Niger and Senegal during which he met his wife (Abigail) and engaged in a broad array of malaria control activities. Since then, his scholarship has included
clinical research on loop diuretics in heart failure, epidemiological research into malaria infection in Douala (Cameroon), and the application of ultrasound in HIV, tuberculosis, and viral hemorrhagic fevers. In residency, he co-authored a resident handbook for the Cardiac Care Unit, rotated with partner sites in Lilongwe (Malawi),
and helped create a two-week training in echocardiography and intensive care for colleagues from Lilongwe. Outside of medicine, he enjoys running, comedy, riding his bicycle, swimming, and generally exploring.
