Dr. Daniel Yang wins at Northwestern

Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Yang on taking home the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Research Award at Northwestern University’s 14th Annual Northwestern Cardiovascular Young Investigators’ Forum!

There was a husky takeover at Northwestern University’s 14th Annual Northwestern Cardiovascular Young Investigators’ Forum, as two UW Cardiologists reached the podium for the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Research Award. Out of 40 finalists, UW Cardiologist Daniel Yang took home the grand prize in the Junior Faculty Basic Science category for his presentation titled "Novel Adult-Onset Systolic Cardiomyopathy due to MYH7 E848G Mutation in Patient-Derived Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells", receiving $10,000 to go towards cardiovascular research. UW Cardiologist Farid Moussavi-Harami also placed on the podium, respectively stepping into 3rd place with his submission.

About the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Research Award

Jeremiah Stamler has been a part of Northwestern University’s medical school community since 1958, becoming the first Chair of their Department of Community Health and Preventive Medicine in 1972, and the distinguished Dingman Professor of Cardiology from 1973 to 1990. To honor Dr. Stamler, the Jeremiah Stamler Distinguished Young Research Award was created to portray the influence he had on cardiovascular research and preventive medicine. Each year, the top presenter in the Junior Faculty Basic Science and Junior Faculty Clinical Research categories will be presented with a $10,000 research grant to assist in current and future cardiovascular research studies.
